The 6th Vietnam International Choir Competition 2019 was officially opened in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province on May 15.

The competition is organized by the Interkultur (Germany) and the Hoi An city’s People’s Committee. There are nearly 1,000 artists from 21 choirs around the world taking part in the contest such as Estonia, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, United States and Vietnam.
The event lasts from 15 to 18 May. Each choir has to perform in different contents that can present their unique cultural features. Besides, they will participate in the show “International Melody” and the street parade.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Artistic Director of the Interkultur Ralf Eiisenbeib stated he was very proud because it is the fifth time the International Choir Competition taken place in Hoi An city. He said, Hoi An is a wonderful city and one of the most beautiful places in Asia that is reserved for gathering and singing. People will have great experiences on the coming days, especially by night when the city is lit up with thousands of lanterns.
The event contributes to propagate Hoi An image to the world.
The international choir competition contributes to promoting the values of heritages, culture, tourism and potential of Hoi An city in particular and Quang Nam province in general. It is also an opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign artists' exchange, a chance to introduce unique cultural features of each country, especially choir performance to the public.
