On August 15th, a symposium on the green tourism model took place in Quang Nam. Present at the event were more than 100 participants from government agencies, businesses, community tourism organisations, and both local and international sustainable tourism experts.

The conference focused on applying foreign experiences and international certification to green tourism development, including product innovation, destination management, and the promotion of sustainable tourism development in Quang Nam.

Earlier, the delegates of the symposium took part in a tour to experience Quang Nam green tourism at Dong Khuong craft village (Dien Ban), Tra Nhieu community tourism village (Duy Xuyen), and Kim Bong carpentry village (Hoi An). The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) financed both the symposium and the tour.

According to Sibylle Bachmann, Head of Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam, Switzerland has supported Quang Nam to promote sustainable tourism development, including developing the green tourism criteria, models, and products.

Thanks to the Swiss support, Hoi An has become a globally recognised sustainable tourism destination.

Sibylle Bachmann stated that Switzerland will continue to support Quang Nam to update the green tourism criteria and develop local policies to further promote sustainable tourism development. Additionally, with the support of SECO, local tourism enterprises may get global certifications for sustainable tourism.

Thanks to the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Project in Vietnam, Quang Nam has become the first locality in the country to apply a green tourism criteria set to six models: resorts, hotels, homestays, travel agencies, tourist attractions, and community tourism sites.
