Quang Nam: A land of heritage


Quang Nam is a Central coastal province with many natural, historical and cultural beauties that are very popular with local and international visitors.

Quang Nam has a 500-year-old culture and is a sacred land with extraordinary people. It is the only province in Vietnam with two UNESCO world cultural heritages.

With its potential geographical features, including mountains, plains, sea, and islands, Quang Nam considers tourism as its key economic sector. And sustainable green tourism is the provincial choice.

The 800-thousand-hectare mountainous region of Quang Nam is home to the Co Tu, Xo Dang, Gie Trieng, and Cor ethnic minorities.

It is a place of tangible and intangible cultural values and diverse ecosystems which may become valuable resources for tourism development.

Besides, Quang Nam has several community-based tourism villages, such as Loc Yen ancient village in Tien Phuoc, Bho Hoong cultural and tourism village in Dong Giang, Azut eco-tourism village in Bha’Lee, Dinh Que tourism area in Tay Giang. There are tens of thousands of visitors to these places each year.

Some new tourism products have recently been born in Quang Nam, not only attracting much more visitors but also becoming a lever for community-based tourism development.

They are ecosystem tourism sites, Ngoc Linh ginseng tourism, and community-based cultural tourism in Nam Tra My, and Dong Giang Heaven Gate ecotourism area.

Moreover, Quang Nam has a system of natural, historical and cultural beauties. Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary are two UNESCO world cultural heritages.

Hoi An used to be a busy international trading port around the 16th and 17th centuries. It is a perfect combination of different cultural features in the world.

My Son Sanctuary is famous for a massive population of temples and towers and spiritual cultural values. It is considered one of the main temple centres of Hinduism in Southeast Asia and is the only heritage site of this type in Vietnam.

With its potential and advantages, Quang Nam has set a goal of attracting over 12 million tourist arrivals by 2025, including around 5.5 and 6 million international ones, creating about 30 thousand jobs then and 50 thousand by 2030.
